I woke up this morning extremely chipper. Quite surprising since I had only had roughly 6 hours of sleep and I usually need about 8 hours. I didn't complain, I just went with it. I had actually laid LaLa's uniform out the night before so I just told her to get dressed and I hopped in the shower. Once emerging I hears shrill cries. Thought to myself "For goodness sake what now?" Started to dry off and yelled from the bathroom to find out why she was melting down.
"I don't have panties out here!!!"
Umm ok. Well she knows where her panties are. They are right where they have always been since she has been potty trained. Top drawer.
"LaLa, top drawer. Go get some." I continued drying off.
She laughs and then skips down the hall to get some underpants. Holy hormones, Batman! My 5 year old already has PMS.
Fast forward 15 minutes. KiKi is dressed but doesn't have her socks and shoes on. I toss her a pair of socks and let her get to work putting them on. She gets them on and I toss her shoes to her. Not two seconds later she is crying and slamming her shoes on the ground. She can't get them on.
My mind flashes forward 12 years to when she is 14 years old. Sitting at the kitchen table doing homework and having a meltdown because question number 7 is too hard. Slamming down a notebook and crying and telling me how unfair her math teacher is because he doesn't explain the work well enough.
I am in for a world of hurt people. Pray for me!
Don't let this scene of calm fool you!

Godspeed.
not only am I praying for you- I am stocking up on tampax, mini pads, midol and PLENTY of vodka. Let's call it a care package......
Thanks.
My baby girl is only 6 months and now I'm petrified too.
I'm here for you, sister! I have a 6 year old with PMS....
kat...please allow me to offer words of hope; they DO grow up! When my two daughters were teens, I always said I would trade my 2 girls for a dozen boys...I also told my daughters they would one day get the daughters they deserve. My oldest daughter now has 2 girls of her own and I have heard countless times, how the baby girl is all MY fault, because I prayed she would get the daughter she deserved. Hmmmm...I was never struck by lightning during that prayer :)
Now that my daughters are moms, we have a beautiful relationship!!!
Cherish the good moments, they will delight you again...one day!

Just remember to enjoy the magical moments as they grow and it will help you ride through the other times. Prayers to you and tp all of us mothers of daughters out in blogland.
AirmanMom is right: they do grow up. My sisters are 31 and 41, and they have grown up into fine women. The 31 year old makes my father handle every single financial transaction for her, is still on his insurance, and the 41 year old still has my parents make her coffee and eggs and dines at their house every weekend.
But, yes. They grow up.
If you start drinking now, you might be permanently drunk enough by the time PMS hits where you won't even feel it.
My daughter started with that attitude when she was a mere 9 years old, and it has gotten progressively worse to this point
(15) and if pms made it any worse, it was hard to tell. You hate to rush your children, but in my case, the sooner she turns 30, the better for everyone involved.
They are all innocent like then pounce. Follow VodkaMom's advice (she knows a lot about this topic) and start stocking up.
I am slowly learning that toddler pms is way more wicked then teenaged pms
I totally get ya, but I don't think they'll be slamming down notebooks in the future. Laptops maybe..
haha!!! two girls! Sounds like the future may be a little scary but they're soooo cute now! I guess enjoy it while it lasts, haha ;o)
Or you could always be a dork like me, start a blog about preparing for that crazy time now, and hope you have an ounce of wisdom by the time they reach that age... But then probably find out that too wasn't enough. Haha!
My daughter is the same way....especially in the mornings. But then again, so is my son. We are not a house full of morning people, that's fo sho.
My heart goes out to you (and your future years ahead).
If it makes you feel any better I have 2 girls too. 2 and 3 years old 15 mths apart so I know how you are feeling. I can't wait for the fights over clothes and the car yeah thats gonna be loads of fun.
Oh goodness, I feel for you. PMDD runs in our family. I fear for my husband when he has to deal with a wife and 2 teenaged daughters at the same time. Oh the joys of being a female.
See, it's stories like this that make us mommies that only have boys feel jsut a tiny bit better about everything. :) Thanks for that!!!
My littlest was sent back to his room this morning because it wasn't time to get up yet and he was being too noisy. He took off his jammies and pull up and threw them at us and then stomped back to his room.
So what you're saying is, I don't want to have a second daughter? Probably good advice, since she's only 2 and already acts like a petulant, dramatic teenager half the time.
Sigh. At least she's cute. Wait... that will make things worse later, won't it.
this is why i' m glad i have boys. i mean, yeah, they potty train later, are filthy, more likely to light things on fire, buy no pms. because a burning house? better than two teenage girls with pms. good luck to you!
Ummmm....it starts before 14 on the homework thing. Trust me.
I have an award for YOU today!
Oh yeah, I feel you. My daughter is well equipped with her estrogen levels at only 18 months. It's scary.
Sigh...I think I was crying about math in first grade! I hope you don't have that instead!
OMG I have a four year old that has these same melt downs. I never thought of them as PMS oh crap what have I gotten myself into??????????
As soon as the boys get home I'm going to hug them, give them a big kiss, and thank them for being boys.
God bless you.
Yes. I'm glad for my boy. Although you get WAY cuter baby clothes! And? You get to have mother/daughter secrets and stuff.
Well, there's still ice cream to fix it right? Just keep the freezer stocked and your arms out of the way! :)
Just wait for the science projects, girl friend. Just wait.
I will pray for you, if you will pray for me. I have a daughter too, AND a stepson who is going to be a teenager in five short years and will be able to say "YOU'RE NOT MY MOTHER!!"
We can support each other.
I have a 7yo with PMS on a daily basis (whose nickname is Kiki, btw). She loves to scream and fuss.
I dread the teenage years. DREAD.
only 1 out of 3 of mind is a girl and I am scared shitless...
hahaha what a lovely post.. i got a daughter too and yeah, i understand what you mean..
Oh, I feel for you!!!!!
it starts way before 14!!! i am going though it at age 7 - good luck!
