Oh Really?

LaLa-"Mom, I put your birthday on my calendar."
Me- "Really? What day is my birthday?"
LaLa- "The 24th. I also wrote your name."
Me- What name did you write?"
LaLa- "I put Mom."
Me- "How do you spell that?"
LaLa- "M-U-M"

Just like the flower, luv! Quite a laugh, innit?

(Happy Early Birthday!)
Integration complete. Lala is now part of the British collective!
luv it!
Hahahahahahahahhhh!!! She'll be fully converted by the time I'm done with her, biscuits (cookies), crisps (chips), trousers (pants and EVERYTHING. *snigger*
That's so sweet. She remembers your birthday. My boys forget mine every year.
Brilliant!
I thought you were going to say she wrote the date with day first/month/year.
Ahh, it's great when they start to pick up the culture!
lol, cute. Has she caught an accent while around her friends but drops it when she's talking to you?
P.S. I wrote a follow-up post that mentions you. Thanks for the comment!

That's fantastic!

It absolutely melts my heart when my son calls me "mummy" instead of "mama" despite the fact that we're surrounded by Americans :-)
Are they going do start calling the Man gov'nor when he comes back?
We're assimilating her! We're assimilating her! One of us! One of us! We accept you etc.

I suppose it could be classed as a kind of bilingualism?
I LOVE it! I'm American, but I think "Mum" is WAY sweeter!
Am I going to be grandmummy?

Granny
little brit!
Okay, just asked my preschooler how to spell 'Mom' and he says it's M-O-M and then asked him how to spell 'Mum' and after thinking for a minute he said it goes M-U-M. Maybe I'll get to remain a Mom after all . . .
