Time Differences

My parents live on the east coast of the US.  This means that they are usually 5 hours behind me, well except for when they start daylight savings time roughly two weeks before the UK and then it is only a 4 hour time difference.  Anyways, I always do my best thinking around 8am-9am.  I just get these brain waves.  I can't explain it.  So usually when I want to tell my parents something important that I have thought about, I can't just call them right that minute.  My mom just generally does not like phone calls between the hours of 3am-4am.  Actually she would probably kick my butt the next time she saw me if I called her at 3 in the morning.  So I usually have to remember my grand idea until at least noon.  Then I call my dad at work, cause my mom is still asleep.  My problem is that by noon sometimes I forget my wonderful idea.

Argh!  Time zones suck.

Kat, just write your idea as a post to yourself, scheduled to publish at noonish, as a reminder!

Or do what i do, write it down on a post-it and stick it somewhere where you'll see it later.

I tend to go through a lot of post-its...now, if I could just remember where I put them all...

Holy cow! I was first! That hasn't happened in a LONG time! Guess I'll have a celebratory beer!

...

wait...time difference...its only about 6:30 am here...and I still have to go to work.

Time zones do suck.

Lol! Write it down girl!

I have the same problem except it is 2 hours difference. It works in the reverse also. My mom thinks nothing of calling me at 12pm on a work night because she just had to tell me something. Grrr...

I agree - WRITE it down!! LOL.

Isn't getting up at 3 am to tend to your child part of the job description for a mum? Tell at least she isn't having to feed you.

Kat, she learned about Mr. Pawlenty from us. Shawn and I discuss politics a lot. A few weeks ago when he veto'd a bill that the house passed I was pissed and went into a tirade about him.
She seems to like every politician Shawn and I don't. She liked McCain too!!
Not all republicans are evil. Just the ones that hold office and host radio shows!! lol :)

Time zones super suck. I'm completely time zone deficient and I communicate with people all over the world. I ask that everyone talk to me in EST because it's the only way I

I often forget my great ideas, too. It's probably why I'm not rich by now.

I do my best later in the morning and in the evenings.... so it will be great once I get there. Now, though, it is a misery having to collect my thoughts and make phone calls to England at 7 a.m.

What do they say.... And ne'er the twain shall meet?

I tend to jot my brilliant ideas down on a slip of paper to share them later. Sadly, by the time I'm able to, I can never read a darn thing I wrote. I've turned into a scrawler!

Email perhaps?

I do the same thing, but I'm in the same time zone as the parents, so I get this great idea at 11PM when they're probably already asleep and try to remember it or write it down and look at the paper the next day thinking what the hell is this about?

I'm a post-it gal. Unfornately those little yellow squares of paper seem to get lost and I'll find them days later. By then my great idea doesn't seem so great anymore.

How dare they sleep at that time?!? Crazy!

I'm an e-mail person myself...they get the message when they get the message...since I've been blogging, however, I do take note how many hours Australian and GB are ahead of me.

I do all my best thinking in the shower. I need shower walls that are all white boards.

I also do my best thinking in the shower. But I do even better thinking at 3am when I wake up with a brilliant idea and I don't write it down because I'm sure I will remember it when I wake up...but I don't.

Ugh. I can't even imagine. I have a hard enough time remembering the ONE hour time difference between us and our families.

What's with all you morning people?? Aliens?
My big thing is phoning my friends from Chicago (to England). I take the kids to school, and when I get back home, I ring them (2.30pm UK time) just as they are about to leave to pick up theirs. By the time it's passed the UK bed time, (Say 8-9pm) I have to go out and get my kids. When mine are in bed it's too late to ring my UK friends. Pah!

It works the other way, too. When we lived on the East Coast, we couldn't just call in the evenings when we needed something.

When we lived in the East and my family was out West, they never remembered the time difference either. Now, it's 7 hours and not just two - they have yet to call us in the middle of the night since we moved here.

I have to keep notes on a piece of paper to remind myself what to do tell the others...

Ok...

I definitely know Bob Hope. He is a hometown hero of ours from Akron, Ohio. I know he is dead, but I actually saw him a couple of times in Akron around town (obviously about 30 years ago - I do not see ghosts)

You will have to start making a list of your ideas!!

There is an award for you over at my blog, enjoy :0)

Like Capt. Dumbass, I do my best thinking in the shower. I've been known to hop out, dripping wet and run down the hall to my office make a note.

I know where you are coming from. On a smaller scale - my aim in the UK was always to have the boys in the bath by 7 and then I could listen to The Archers on Radio 4 whilst splashing around with bubbles. Here I can still listen to the Archers but it is at 8pm (one hour time difference with the UK) and that has played havoc with my bedtime routine and staying atop of the happenings in Ambridge. Grrrr.
