Expectations Exceeded

With bleary eyes and a pounding head I woke up trying to remember what truck had run me over the day before. Only it wasn't a truck, it was one of the best weekends of my life. CyberMummy, the blogging conference for mum bloggers in the UK was this past Saturday. 200 women. One hotel. We converged upon the Ibis London Earls Court with jitters and expectations. All jitters were unfounded; everyone was lovely. The expectations were exceeded.

The conference started and there was a feeling in the air. A feeling that I can only describe as kindred sisterhood. We are not only bloggers, we are sisters. We understand one another. Through our posts we have shared our deepest feelings. We have read posts and connected. This was confirmed during the Community Keynote Speeches. As blog posts were read by their authors not a dry eye was to be found in the entire conference room. There were happy tears, tears of sadness, tears of "I've been there too", and tears of laughter. All these tears bonded the 200 women at this event together.

Friendships were born and sealed on Saturday. A few bottles (ok- many bottles) of wine were consumed. Conversations were animated. Boundaries of decency were pushed, bent, and maybe broken. There was never a dull moment. There was never a spare moment. I cannot wait to do it all again next year.

I agree with the sisters thing--its true, we weren't just a bunch of women with a shared interest in blogging, we were all women who enjoyed the blog art form (yes, I did say art form) but we also understand that we each have to fit that in around a multitude of other tasks and interests. I loved that part about cybermummy, the shared understanding.
Beautifully expressed. Spot on x
I hope hope hope that I will be able to make the date next year. I am bummed that I had so many conflicting things going on for July 3rd. :( But the wedding I went to was amazing, so it's not like I suffered while missing out on the London fun. ;-)
I loved the looks in people's eyes when they realised that the person sitting next to them was someone they'd been blogging with for a couple of years. Pure joy!
Great to meet you.
Didn't get to meet you, but hopefully I will next time! What a lovely post and oh so true. The feeling of warmth and community amongst us all was inspiring and empowering. I felt very proud to be there :-)
I will just mope in the corner. *smacks herself for being a spoil sport*
Possibly a tad too much wine but an amazing day was had by all. Thank you for coming. xx

I will be there next year! Maybe I can convince hubby to pay out for me to travel to the UK once a year when we leave the UK too so I can attend.
So it wasn't the booze truck that ran over you then?

I was fine until Linda bought the tequila shots.
Many, many bottles of wine and the Tequila was indeed a bad idea!! I was in bed by 9.30pm last night....what a lightweight!!! Was soooo good to meet you xxx
How fun!!! How great!! What excitment!!!
Oh, it sounds like you all had such a nice time. Next year I will have to make a bit of an effort. I hear the men are very nice in that neck of the woods. Did you see any nice ones? Sorry I had to retire at 7pm.

It sounds like you really had an amazing time and met wonderful people at the conference!

I'd like to invite you to become a member of www.PinkPangea.com, a new community for women travelers to get real travel information geared specifically to women.

It would be great if you could post about your travels, providing anecdotes and photos from your time abroad as well as tips for women travelers who also want to see the world.

I look forward to hearing more about your experiences abroad!

Sounds like big fun and a great opportunity to meet other women bloggers face to face. I can't wait for this opportunity sometime myself.
I laughed out load at your mention of boundaries! Lovely to meet you and what a memorable weekend!
