Lastnight at about 7:30 LaLa put herself to bed. She told me her legs hurt cause they were so tired and she needed to go to bed. No skin off my nose. Please child, put yourself to bed. KiKi on the other hand was wired. I don't know if it was because she has been feeling so puny for so long or if the days activities had just got her super amped but she was not going to be going to bed at bedtime. I am sure the cookie she ate at 8pm had no effect at all. Are you sensing the sarcasm?
At about 9pm I decided that enough was enough. Time for bed. I found her favorite Dora pajamas, got her changed and put her in bed. Then she asked for water. I went and got water. She was out of bed by the time I got back to her room. I put her back in bed and sat down on the edge to wait for her to fall asleep. Then I looked at her and saw the tell tale glint of mischif in her eyes. KiKi had other plans. This was not going to be an easy bedtime. She talked to me. I told her to go to sleep. She heard "Retreat" played on the loudspeaker outside (military base, remember).
KiKi- "Song?"
Me- "That is the night night music. Time to go to sleep."
KiKi- "SONG!!"
After the music was over she continued to try to play in her bed. I kept telling her it was time to go to bed. She then made me laugh. She pointed her finger at me, and told me off in toddler speak. I have no idea what she said, but she meant business. Whatever she told me it must have satisfied her because she quickly fell asleep after her diatribe.

I have to wonder if there is a group of scientists who have devoted their time to interpreting and translating BabySpeak.
Lucky for me, my son loves to go to bed and has slept like a rock through the night since he was six months old. Don't hate me too much, as he's annoying in so many other ways ;)
That little darling has your wrapped around her finger! So young, yet so devious! How adorable!
It took me three kids and 12 years to figure out I'll never be able to figure out toddlerspeak. I'm still trying to to find the meaning of "cockyroll". If you have any ideas, let me know!
As adorable as it is, I hope that you don't have a repeat of it again tonight!
I was up three times last night because my little one had pushed himself up and over his pillow. He would start crying every time because he was cold and couldn't find the blankets. Dumb ass.
Oh, I mean... how precious.
I used to trick Will by telling him he could stay up as late as he wanted but he had to stay in bed and be quiet. He was out in minutes! Muahahaha!
I was gonna leave a snarky comment, but the Cap'n got me.
That is adorable. I let my 4-year old have a brownie last night before bed and OMG - wired. NO more, I say!!
Oh man, sounds like it was trouble starting off, but she still went to sleep, so that's good, right? She sounds adorable. Thanks for stopping by today. I hope to see you again soon. :)
We swap out if it gets too long. "Don't make me get your father," seems to have a sedative effect.
omg I remember those days! Sometimes it's hard to be mad when they crack you up! I remember once when I tried to put sassy to bed, and she turned to me all curled up, and BELTED OUT IT's a Grand Old Flag! I mean Ethel Merman, baby. I still laugh about that.
Oh those nights! When it's my turn to put the boy down he just wants to play. Half of me just wants him to roll over and sleep, but the othe half knows this is the only time I have with him alone and when he's focused on me. Sigh.
Yeah, I'm totally back stalking you. How embarrassing. My two comments are sandwiched together. I totally second that emotion on what you wrote over at Get The Stink Off. You are one of my best bloggy friends, definitely one of my first.:)
