This morning when LaLa came downstairs to finish getting ready for preschool, I turned on the T.V. I put it on Nick like I normally do. Well LaLa was not having it. Apparently Nick has become uncool. I didn't know a 4 year old had a coolness meter. I guess I am wrong. She insisted I turn it to Boomerang. In case you are not in the know, Boomerang is a T.V. channel that plays "classic" cartoons. They have everything from Tom and Jerry to the Snorks. I am so glad that she finally is over the whole Dora thing. This morning she actually said "Yay! The Snorks are coming on next!" Unfortunately we were about to walk out the door in 5 min so she didn't get to watch The Snorks, but I think it is really cool that she likes them. They were one of my favorites growing up. Them and She-ra. I wonder if I can find any old She-ra videos on eBay....
Sorry, my mind wandered for a minute there. I am just glad that I am watching cartoons with character now. Dora, Diego, WonderPets, and Little Bill were starting to wear my nerves thin. I know they are "educational" but really my kids have seen them enough that they know the dialog, and my kids don't actually watch "a lot" of T.V. At least old cartoons have a little bit of a sense of danger, mystery, or nonsensical violence. I think a good mallet to the head of Tom the cat is good for the soul sometimes. Wile E. Coyote falling off a cliff, pure genius! Mindless laughs are for fun. Dora is for suckers!

Boomerang ROCKS!
They have Justice League...JUSTICE LEAGUE!!!!
Too bad my daughters don't dig that one at all...
Dora, Dora, Dora, the explorer...
Yeah, that would be stuck in my head all the time. We turned my son on to the classics, too. Much easier to listen to.
He still likes Spongebob and The Angry Beavers, which I actually can watch.
Cartoons? How about Family Guy?
Might not be age-appropriate, but still one of the best cartoons out there.
We don't get Boomerang, so I'd forgotten about Snorks! Right now, though, I'm sitting here with my youngest watching a Tom and Jerry movie, and I gotta say, these updated movie versions are a bit annoying!
Oh, so, good...he just turned it to an episode of Jimmy Neutron that I've not seen, like, a milion times...
In our house Maggie has moved on and only wants to watch Sponge Bob and Ry still likes Little Bill and Max Ruby (Shoot me now). I am thinking about just telling them the "cartoon" channels don't work anymore because daddy didn't pay the bill.
I'm boomerangless here. I need to go buy the looney tunes dvd's to get him away from noggin.
I HATE HATE HATE Diego. Hate him like burning. Dora is irritating, but for some reason Diego is SO much worse.
I loved She-Ra and He-Man!!! "By the power of Greyskull"!
I'm about a year behind you. We get to watch Spongebob and Dora and Wonderpets almost every day...woohoo!!
Yup, I'm right now in the middle of having the Hot Dog Dance shoved in my ear every chance Sprite gets. Luckily, she likes the Imagination Movers too, and I'd rather drool semi-consciously to that.
Yeah, Nick is so, like, 2007. Where have YOU been? Unfortunately, I am just entering the Dora phase of my daughter's life. If I could only remember the words to that "I'm the Map" song.
"If there's a place ya gotta go, I'm the one you need to know, I'm the map..." Tinky Winky may or may not have been gay, but the Map? Flamer! Not that there's anything wrong with that.
Barney almost killed us. Really. The oldest would watch HOURS of Barney...and then sing all the songs. I've never wanted to harm a fictional character so much in all of my life.
Ditto Wiggles. Only they are real, sort of.
